The Invisibles airdate **UPDATED**
posted April 10, 2008

The BBC has issued a press release regarding the first episode of the BBC series, The Invisibles, which stars Anthony Head as Maurice Riley.

It will be shown on Thursday at 9 pm beginning May 1, 2008.

It will also be shown on BBC HD at 11:15 pm

Warren Clarke, Anthony Head, Dean Lennox Kelly and Jenny Agutter star in William Ivory's new comedy drama series.

Syd Woolsey and Maurice Riley are old friends who return from the good life on the Costa del Crime, where they have spent their ill-gotten gains, to a quiet Devon fishing village, planning to eke out their retirement fishing and availing themselves of the NHS. However, the quiet life is not for them and, with money running short, they quickly find themselves drawn back into a life of crime – only to find that crime has moved on and they've got new things to learn.

In the opening episode, Maurice is determined to keep his promise to his wife, Barbara, and not return to crime, but Syd's son, Joe, is in trouble and the only way they can help bail him out is to rob again. With the help of Hedley, son of their old – now deceased – colleague Vernon, the boys try one last job. Or so they say...

Warren Clarke plays Syd who – with four wives and three divorces under his belt – finds the single life hard. Anthony Head plays Maurice, Syd's rock – though that creates its own stresses for Maurice. Dean Lennox Kelly plays Hedley,
30-something-year-old son of the late Vernon Huthwaite, Syd and Maurice's former partner in crime. When Hedley hears Syd and Maurice are planning to settle locally, he wants in on the action.

Jenny Agutter plays Barbara Riley, quite aware of her husband's penchant for cracking open the odd safe or two. Emily Head plays Grace Riley, who thinks her dad can do no wrong ... because she has no idea how he's made his money. Paul Barber plays Young Nick who, together with Maurice, Syd and Vernon, pulled off some of the most notorious robberies in the country's colourful history. Mina Answar plays Helen Huthwaite, Hedley's wife, who knows what he does but hates it, realising that Hedley is basically a decent bloke whose involvement in crime is largely due to his need to prove to himself he's worthy of his father, who was the great crook. Joe Tithe plays Syd's son, Joe, who is usually causing his dad immense trouble.

Entertainment Weekly: GILFy Pleasures: 33 Hotties Over Age 50
posted May 23, 2008

Entertainment Weekly has named Anthony Stewart Head as one of 33 Hotties Over Age 50

ANTHONY STEWART HEAD
He first made us swoon in steamy coffee commercials — coffee commercials?! We're so easy! — but it's his role as Watcher Rupert Giles on Buffy the Vampire Slayer that forever sealed the deal. The British accent and librarian wardrobe are stuffy, but knowing that the man beneath them is nicknamed ''Ripper''? Sexy as all hell. (See also: Head's willingness to put on stockings and play Frank-N-Furter in Rocky Horror Picture Show.)
