NOTE: This interview was taped Saturday morning, July 12, in the lobby of the Regal Constellation Hotel, during Toronto Trek 17. I was about 10 feet away during it with some friends - we made sure we were not in camera range, though!)

Jonathan Llyr (host): Hey, everybody. Welcome once again to HypaSpace. I'm Jonathan Llyr. So, some exciting news for all you Buffy fans. While at the Toronto Trek convention this past weekend, we had the chance to chat with Giles himself, actor Anthony Stewart Head - great guy by the way - about whether or not there was a spin-off for him in the works.

ASH: Joss has officially gone on record as saying he wants to do it and I mean, we talk about it. Before the end of the last season, he - I pitched something to him, we sort of chatted about it and he said "To be honest, my first priority is, I want to do the Ripper thing." He changed his angle from doing like a six part series to doing maybe a two hour movie...um...and seeing where it goes. Because he said what he didn't want to do was get into the sort of weekly, "There's a villain, you chase it, you kill it, you get, you know, bladity- blah." He wanted to get more inside Giles's head. Scary place to go. But...um...on my last day of filming...um...he went off for a cup of tea and he came back and said, "I've just worked out what the storyline is." And he told me and it's beautiful, it's fantastic. So I hope. I mean, ultimately what he needs - what Joss knows for himself - and we all know is that he needs to go and make some movies. Because it's time for the world to see a Joss written script, directed by Joss. I can't wait, myself. So, I think Ripper will happen but it will happen down the line.

It's nice to put a little bit of space between, you know, what's been and what will come. I'm sure there will be more stuff coming from the Buffy legacy. It's just - anything that kinda happens now would be viewed as, "Hmmm, well it's not Buffy." So I think it's good for there to be a bit of time.
