Woof!Television guest star appearance (UK) Series summary: A young boy named Eric finds himself inexplicably turning into a dog. Role: B. J. Bentley Summary of Anthony Head's storyline: Episode 2.07 In the episodes leading up to this one, Eric begins to wonder why he turns into a dog and if there is a way he can learn to control it. He and his best friend Rachel research their local newspaper and come across several articles about Bruce the Memory Dog and how he does things that a dog shouldn't be able to do. Bruce belongs to a Mr. Bentley so the children decide to find him. When they arrive at the home, all they find is the dog Bruce, who doesn't react to their questions as someone who understood them would. In this episode, Eric and Rachel realize that the dog Bruce is following them and try to catch him without success. They eventually find him searching through the school headmaster's office pulling files out and apparently reading them. As they go to enter the office, Eric suddenly turns into a dog. They overhear the headmaster in the gym shower and Eric the dog decides to steal his clothes to prevent him from catching them in his office. But when they enter the office, it is seemingly empty. Eric soon starts barking at a closet and when Rachel opens the door, a strange man wearing nothing but a blanket is there. He introduces himself to her as B. J. Bentley and she quickly realizes that he is the human version of Bruce the dog. Bentley asks to borrow the headmaster's clothes that Rachel is carrying. He apologizes to her and Eric (who is still in dog form) for not approaching them directly but he wanted to make certain that Eric could really turn into a dog. Just then the headmaster, who took a female staff member's clothes when he realized his were missing, sees them. Bentley tells the children to leave and he'll meet them later. The headmaster realizes that Bentley is wearing his clothes and Bentley moves around the corner while motioning for the headmaster to follow. When the headmaster turns the corner, he is shocked to see a dog standing there. Bentley meets the children again later at a park and explains to them that there is an organization made up of people who turn into dogs. They do research and provide assistance to each other, while remaining in secret because they realize that no one would believe them. Bentley gives Eric his card to contact him if the need arrives. Eric asks Bentley if he knows how to control turning into a dog. Bentley assures him that he will learn that control as he grows older. Naturally, at that moment, Bentley suddenly realizes he is about to turn into a dog and jumps behind a wall to transform. Episode 2.08Eric the dog has been dognapped. He is held in a shed on a farm with dozens of other dogs. He escapes as soon as he turns back into a boy. He and Rachel discuss how to rescue the other dogs and decide to call B. J. Bentley for help. He isn't home but they leave a message with all the details of what has been happening. The two go to the farm to try and rescue the dogs but are caught by the dognappers. Suddenly, Bruce the dog appears, along with an army of dogs. They attack and subdue the dognappers (and, since this is a farm, there is the obligatory involvement of manure). After the dognappers have been locked up in the cages they were using on the dogs, Bentley appears in human form to tell Rachel to call the police. Why he is wearing a white tuxedo at this point is never addressed. From a vantage point on a nearby hill, Rachel, Bentley and Eric the dog later observe the police taking away the dognappers. Bentley congratulates Eric and Rachel for their work while putting on a white jumpsuit over his tuxedo. He pulls a motorcycle from the bushes and rides off. Rachel, who has clearly developed a crush, sighs and wishes he was her dog, much to Eric's annoyance. |
