Summary of Anthony Head's storyline: The team consists of Brian Lane, Jack Halford, Gerry Standing and is lead by Sandra Pullman. Pullman tells her team that they need to wear ties to investigate their next crime, which, as it turns out, took place at Buckingham Palace. At the palace, they meet Sir Timothy who is in charge of the Queen's art collection. A painting in the collection has been identified as a forgery. Pullman's team has been brought in to trace the source of the forgery and find the original painting. Sir Timothy indicates that his predecessor, Sir Stephen, had brought the forgery into the Queen's collection and sold off the original. Sir Timothy also takes a moment to get in some flirtation with Pullman.

Pullman's team is unhappy about being brought into the case as they have no art expertise. The few initial leads they have go nowhere and Pullman meets with her boss and Sir Tim to let them know this. But Pullman's boss insists her team stay on the case, with the help of an expert seconded from Art Fraud.

Sir Tim drops by to see Pullman, surprising her with donut powder all over her face. He gives her a painting for the office, telling her that part of the Queen's Collection responsibility to make share works of art with public places, which would include Scotland Yard. Pullman is impressed with the painting and thanks Sir Tim. As he is leaving, she asks if he is familiar with the name of the man they have determined painted the forgery and he says he is not.

After further investigation, the team discover that an arson took place in the forger's studio and he committed suicide shortly thereafter. Pullman calls Sir Tim with an update and he asks her what she is doing the following night. He invites her to go to the opera with him and she accepts.

Pullman meets with Sir Tim for the opera and enjoys herself immensely. However, after the opera, she confronts him with the evidence that has come up during the investigation. Namely that he went to school with the forger and that the forger was killed by an art collector who discovered he had bought a fake. Turns out it was Sir Tim who was having forgeries created and then selling them to  collectors as the real, supposedly stolen artwork. Sir Tim insists that no harm was done with the forgeries but Pullman arrests him.
