Summary of Anthony Head's storyline: Weir appears briefly in the first episode as an acquaintance of Richard Mallen.

Weir is first seen as part of a hunting party at the Mallen home. While out, the group sees a man in the distance observing them. Richard tells them that this is one of his father's many bastard sons. Weir and his group decide to have some fun by chasing after the observer, but they quickly lose him.

Later, Richard attempts to cheat at cards and is caught. Weir demands back the £200 he lost. Richard assumes he will get the money from his father, but it turns out that Thomas Mallen has mortgaged the family home and they will soon be evicted by the bank.
